Winter Weatherization

Joel Boyden | Jan 20 2022

When the temps drop below zero there is a chance that the water pipes in your house can freeze. This can cause them to burst from the expansion of the frozen water, causing an expensive mess. There are a few things that you can do to prevent your pipes from freezing.

If there is extreme cold in the forecast it is a good idea to leave the water running at a trickle of both warm and cold water. Moving water takes more time to freeze.

Leave the cabinets under your sink open to allow more air circulation around your pipes.

Keep your Thermostat at least 55 degrees, and do not adjust it lower at night.

Keep garage doors closed.
